Summary: This work has as a starting point the correlations between The non existent knight by the
Italian novelist Italo Calvino, and Don Quixote de La Mancha, by the Spanish writer Miguel
de Cervantes in order to observe how the concepts of mimesis, anachronism and revolution
are configured in both works. From the moment these concepts are ascertained and presented,
the objective of this dissertation is to carry out a comparative study in order to present the
similarities between the works under study, with special focus on the way they approach the
tradition of cavalry, either following its precepts or exceeding the limits established by the
genre. In the first chapter we deal with the concepts of literature, anachronism and revolution,
principles that foment the discussions proposed here. The second chapter addresses the notion
of mimesis and how it manifests itself in works through the tradition of courtly love and is
broken by the presence of the squires Sancho and Gurdulu. Finally, in the third chapter, we
discuss the rupture of tradition with the purpose of ascertaining how Cervantes and Calvin use
their knights as revolutionary allegories.
