The Postgraduate Program in Literature at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) brings together scholars and writers dedicated to the study of literature and culture in an international and interdisciplinary context. Through a wide range of methods, approaches and topics, the program has offered a Masters degree since 1994 and doctoral and postdoctoral degrees since 2010 and 2012, respectively. The program has achieved high scoring results in the assessment by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), the Brazilian official accreditation agency for postgraduate programs.
The Postgraduate Program in Literature at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) is one of the 60+ postgraduate programs in current operation at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, from which almost 60% of them offer both Masters and doctoral degrees. PPGL is included in this group, as it is part of a collective effort to improve the quality and expand the offer of postgraduate courses at UFES.
Since the beginning of its activities (in 1994) until the present day, hundreds of masters and doctors have graduated at PPGL. A significant share of these scholars are currently working in the educational field, whether in public or private sectors and in both primary or higher education. Most of our former students attend PPGL events (such as lectures, debates, seminars and conferences) regularly, in which they gladly contribute significantly to the debates and also to academic production on a regular basis.
Another important factor is that many of our former masters have been constantly returning to the program, in order to undertake their PhD studies, which indicates our students’ trust and satisfaction with the project PPGL has been collectively developing.
In the last evaluation by the Brazilian official accreditation agency for postgraduate programs (CAPES), PPGL was granted a 5 score, which indicates an important external recognition of the work we have been developing and indicates the challenges we must face in order to improve our program’s qualification even more. In order to improve ourselves, our self-assessment committee has been meeting regularly, since 2011, to elaborate, discuss and implement strategies for improving all activities we develop at PPGL.
The Postgraduate Program in Literature at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) is based in the city of Vitoria, and has been offering doctoral degrees since 2010, and its Masters degrees since 1994.
Graduates and enrolled:The program already has 283 masters and 124 doctors and counts with 71 students regularly enrolled, being 24 in the masters and 47 in the doctorate.
