Summary: This study investigates Capixaba poet Waldo Motta`s homo-erotic cosmovision, what it
consists of and how it unfolds. Based on a detailed and deep reading of Motta's work,
enlightened by literary scrutiny and theory, we intend to show the most important elements
that compose Motta’s “sacred eroticism”, which can be found in his early poems and have
been developed conceptually and aesthetically throughout the years. Using philosophy,
psychology and other theories, we verify how and with what motivation the writer articulates
symbols of various religious traditions in order to create, to his own image, new affective,
cultural, political and spiritual realities.
Keywords: eroticism, homosexuality, poetry, religion, Waldo Motta.
