Summary: Having as a corpus of research the book of poems O mundo à solta by Felipe Fortuna, the
purpose of this work is to undertake a reflection that seeks to show how, through the
referential function of language, the writer from Rio de Janeiro problematizes the most
diverse social themes that disintegrate before they even solidify, revealing the acrid odor of
the world, that is, the "sulfuric smell of the millennium" that exudes from its poetics. Thus,
we will also analyze his poetry in the light of Michel Foucault's teachings on the panopticon -
type of penitentiary devised by the English philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham - and the
relations of power; of Zigmunt Bauman on the synoptic - mechanism of power thought by
Thomas Mathiesen - and liquidity; of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, Max Weber and Giorg
Simmel on the reproduction of relations of domination and on modern capitalism, among
others. We will try to show how the poet reflects on the complex relationships, uncertainties
and transformations that a great part of humanity has experienced in the last decades.
