Summary: This study is caracterized as a theoretical research, which main goal is to investigate, in the works of playwright Samuel Beckett and the dialectical materialism of German philosopher Theodor Adorno, the relation between literature and philosophy by analyzing the dialogues between the concepts of autonomous and engaged art in Adornos contellation and one of the most prominent works of Samuel Beckett (Endgame). In order to conduct this analysis, an aesthetical interpretation of the play is made, taking as its reference the concept of artistic truth content such as introduced by Theodor Adorno. Seen as the resolution of an artwork enigma obtained by philosophical reflection, the truth content is essential to show the presence of engagement and autonomy in the same work of art.
